The Cayman Islands Department of Tourism (CIDOT) last week announced a series of changes to its COVID-19 government protocols, officially eliminating pre-arrival testing requirements for inbound, fully vaccinated travelers. Already in effect, fully vaccinated passengers traveling to the Cayman Islands will no longer need to submit proof of a negative COVID-19 test result within one day of arrival.
“These latest developments signal the exciting transition into the next phase of our strategic reopening plan, which the government has been successfully executing since 2021,” said Minister for Tourism and Transport Hon. Kenneth Bryan. “On the heels of the United States lifting their testing requirements for re-entry among international travelers and the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) relaxing guidelines, we are delighted to make the journey to Cayman a bit smoother for our global guests.”
The destination also officially lifted mask mandates requiring indoor mask-wearing by persons in public spaces. Note: Fully vaccinated visitors to the Cayman Islands are still required to complete a travel declaration at least 72 hours prior to travel to the Cayman Islands.
The health and safety of residents and visitors alike remains a top priority for the Cayman Islands Government and CIDOT; this has been made evident as the destination moved strategically and successfully through five stages of its "Border Reopening Plan," welcoming international travelers, families and cruise passengers to the destination via a phased approach.
