Spa on New York's Governors Island Undergoes Expansion

QC NY, the Italian spa on Governors Island, has opened the doors to its Building 111, a 15,000-square-foot addition comprising a 142-seat bistro, lavender room, salt room, ice room, and a relaxation room with waterbeds. The spa initially opened in 2022 and is known for its year-round outdoor pools with Manhattan skyline views.

Inside the Acqua Level of Building 111, two new water experiences include a spout waterfall and a soothing hydro jet water massage. The second floor houses eight new relaxation rooms. In the Horizon Room, which offers East River views, guests will be guided through a multisensory wellness ritual inspired by the sea. Seaweed eye patches enriched with hyaluronic acid and vitamins help refresh the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles and seaweed snacks round off the experience.

Next door, the Dream Room has six waterbeds. Guests here can relax while an eight-minute film is projected overhead. The Lavender Room is inspired by the lavender fields of Governors Island and Provence. Visitors will enjoy a foot therapy including a guided stretch and massage using wooden rollers, complemented by a hydrating lavender foot mask.

The Ice Room ranges in temperature between 50 and 59 degrees Fahrenheit and offers all the benefits of a cold plunge. Guests can also relax in theme rooms such as the Balloon Room and the Butterfly Room.

Casa QC, the 5,000-square-foot bistro offers two buffet options: Relax and Refresh and Relax and Gusto. The Relax and Refresh buffet serves cold cuts, artisanal cheeses, a salad bar, seasonal fruits and desserts, while Relax and Gusto adds hot and cold main courses such as soups, pastas, frittatas, gnocchi and rice salad to the mix.

Other facilities slated to open later this year include a Salt Room and the Soil + Sea sauna rooms.

Italian brothers Andrea and Saverio Quadrio Curzio began planning their first U.S. outpost of the QC Spa of Wonders back in the mid-2010s, acquiring three Georgian Revival buildings that once served as army barracks. With the third building opening in spring 2025, QC NY will total 100,000 square feet.

A five-hour "Escape Entrance" starts at $124, while a "Sunset Entrance" (5 p.m. to 10 or 11 p.m.) starts at $98. Passes include access to all facilities, amenities and complimentary products. Massages, food and beverages are available separately for purchase. Individuals celebrating their birthdays receive one complimentary entry when visiting with a paying companion during their birth month.
