Adventure Canada Unveils 2027 Expeditions

Adventure Canada has unveiled its 2027 expedition line-up, featuring a roster of voyages that highlight both the company’s adventurous spirit and its ongoing commitment to community, culture, and conservation. The announcement includes the return of such popular favourites as "Gulf of St. Lawrence: Wild & Storied" and "Sable Island: Wild Horses and Outpost Legacy"—each refreshed for 2027—as well as the debut of the brand-new expedition, "Ellesmere Island and North Greenland: Journey to the Top of the World."

This 13-day itinerary—running from August 19 through August 31, 2027—aims to take travellers further north than any Adventure Canada voyage has gone before, venturing to Tartupaluk (Hans Island)—a tiny (0.46 square mile), remote (approximately 1,500 km north of the Arctic Circle), and symbolically shared island located in the Nares Strait between Nunavut and Greenland.

“This voyage has long lived in our imagination, and we’re thrilled to now make it a reality,” said Cedar Swan, CEO of Adventure Canada. “It’s a chance to explore one of the most awe-inspiring and seldom-travelled regions of the Arctic—something we’ve always dreamed of sharing with our guests.”

Journey to the Top of the World

Sailing round-trip from Qausuittuq (Resolute), Nunavut, this small-ship expedition aboard Ocean Nova invites guests to explore the northernmost reaches of our planet. Travelers will experience dramatic Arctic landscapes, vibrant Inuit communities, and abundant wildlife while visiting extraordinary sites such as:

  • Tallurutiup Imanga (Lancaster Sound): A thriving marine sanctuary where you will spot polar bears, walrus, whales, and seabirds amid stunning Arctic seascapes.
  • Qaanaaq, Greenland: One of the world’s northernmost towns and a centre of Inughuit culture.
  • Kane Basin: A dramatic waterway where the shores of Ellesmere Island and Greenland almost meet.
  • Tartupaluk (Hans Island): A small, rocky island that has long been a crossroads for Inuit and, more recently, the subject of a good-natured yet symbolically potent territorial dispute between Canada and Denmark.
  • Smith Sound: The dramatic channel that links Kane Basin to Baffin Bay, this polynya (open water within sea ice) is among the Arctic’s most biologically productive areas.
  • Aujuittuq (Grise Ford): Canada’s northernmost community, its name means “the place that never thaws.”
  • Devon Island: Vast and elemental, this is the world’s largest uninhabited island.
  • Beechey Island: Where the legacy of Arctic exploration feels close and tangible.

Refreshed Classics

In addition to its northern milestone, Adventure Canada is bringing back two itineraries in 2027 with refreshed programming and enhanced experiences.

The "Gulf of St. Lawrence: Wild & Storied" voyage explores the rich cultural and ecological tapestry of Eastern Canada—linking Mi’kmaq heritage, Acadian history, and the region’s incredible marine biodiversity. Guests will sail among vibrant coastal communities, UNESCO World Heritage Sites, and some of the best whale-watching waters in North America.

Meanwhile, "Sable Island: Wild Horses and Outpost Legacy" offers a rare opportunity to set foot on the remote, windswept sandbar known for its iconic wild horses and rich maritime history. Updated programming for 2027 deepens the focus on conservation and research partnerships that help protect this fragile environment and its storied past.
