American Cruise Lines has announced that its first Coastal Cat, American Eagle, has passed sea trials. The small-ship cruise line has accepted delivery of the 100-passenger vessel from Chesapeake Shipbuilding in Salisbury, MD.
American Eagle is the namesake of American Cruise Lines’ first vessel in 1972. It is the first of 12 new Coastal Cats the line is planning to build at Chesapeake Shipbuilding. The next four ships are already under construction for delivery over the next year. American Eagle is now headed to Massachusetts, where will embark on its first passenger cruise, sailing a roster of U.S. itineraries along the East Coast. The inaugural cruise is scheduled to depart August 14, 2023, following the line’s eight-day “Cape Codder” itinerary, round trip from Boston, MA.
Accommodating just 100 guests, American Eagle has four decks and showcases a new catamaran bow. The new Coastal Cat offers private balcony accommodations, including spacious Single and Double-Occupancy Staterooms as well as a selection of suites. American Eagle also offers a top deck for amazing views, comfortable lounges both inside and out, a main restaurant, café and fitness center.
The company plans to introduce the second new Coastal Cat in the series, American Glory, this November.
