American Jazz to Debut "San Francisco Bay" Itinerary

Seeking a cruise vacation closer to home? American Cruise Lines has announced its first-ever California cruise, a new eight-day "San Francisco Bay" itinerary for 2023.

Sailing roundtrip from San Francisco, the 190-passenger American Jazz will call at Napa, Vallejo, Stockton and Sacramento, CA. Cruise fares are priced from $6,095 per person, double occupancy. Departures are: February 17, February 24, March 3 and March 10, all in 2023.

"Exploring this beautiful region of Northern California by riverboat will provide a new opportunity for our guests to discover the Bay area and the Napa Valley in an exceptional way," says Charles B. Robertson, president and CEO, American Cruise Lines. "Many have driven there but not many can say they have actually cruised through wine country."

The new "San Francisco Bay" itinerary will operate on four dates in 2023 to interior California destinations.

Exploring Wine Country and California History

American Jazz will sail along the Napa and San Joaquin Rivers, as well as cruise through the San Francisco and San Pablo bays.

Guests will explore Northern California's historical, cultural and geographical influences. They'll also visit vineyards and agricultural communities.

In the San Francisco area, guests will enjoy scenic cruising to view the Golden Gate Bridge, Alcatraz and Treasure Island. In addition, guests who so choose can go ashore to explore Fisherman’s Wharf, Ghirardelli Square and Alcatraz.

Other fun experiences? During this new voyage, guests can head out for wine tasting at a Napa Valley winery. Thrill seekers can get behind the wheel at a NASCAR-style driving experience at the Stockton 99 Speedway.

The cruise also will offer a guided tour of Old Sacramento’s underground city and port. During a visit to the California State Railroad Museum in Sacramento, cruisers can peruse steam locomotives.

Plus, at that railroad museum, they'll see an exhibit honoring the Chinese contribution to the transcontinental railroad's construction and the "Golden Spike," commemorating the railroad tracks' 1869 completion.

On board American Jazz, guest activities will include daily sunrise yoga, wine tasting presentations and Northern California cooking demonstrations. Each guest also will receive a local cookbook to take home.

The new California itinerary further diversifies American Cruise Lines' annual line-up of voyages. Overall, American operates 15 small ships in 34 U.S. states—from East Coast destinations to the Mississippi River heartland, the Pacific Northwest and Alaska and elsewhere.
