The American Queen Steamboat Company, operator of the U.S.-flagged American Queen, is giving travelers the chance to ride the Columbia River. Because of consumer demand, three new cruises on the American Empress are now part of the boat’s 2018 schedule with five-day sailings out of Portland for a round trip voyage. The company says these are emblematic of the Lewis and Clark excursions.
These trips also have off the boat programs like an evening with the Columbia River Symphony at the Liberty Theatre in Astoria, Oregon, during the November 24 voyage. Also, travelers can see an old-fashioned sock hop at the National Neon Museum in The Dalles, Oregon, during the November 28 and December 2 voyages.
These are new Columbia River cruises aboard the American Empress this fall. These sailings start at $899 per person.
Autumn in the Pacific Northwest – Roundtrip Portland (Vancouver, WA): This voyage is nature and history based, providing tours of the Bonneville Dam and Astoria Column.
These run November 24 – 28, November 28 – December 2, December 2 – 6.
Fares on Columbia River sailings with American Queen Steamboat Company begin at $599 per guest. All journeys include a one-night pre-voyage hotel stay, shore tours in all ports, complimentary wine and beer with dinner and other amenities. The American Queen is also known to depart from river port cities including Memphis, Nashville, New Orleans, Cincinnati and Minneapolis.
