Atlas Ocean Voyages has introduced its schedule of complimentary "Cultural Immersion" shore excursions in Europe as part of the line’s new "Epicurean Expeditions," offered from April through October. In addition to the included tours, Atlas offers a roster of more than 500 optional excursions to enrich guests’ regional knowledge and inspire discussion.
“These new food- and wine-focused tours have been designed so guests can immerse themselves in the tastes, smells and flavors of the region,” said James A. Rodriguez, the line’s president and CEO. “The goal of our 'Cultural Immersions' is to provide insights and experiences that will create long-lasting memories.”
Depending on the itinerary, guests might sample tapas in Barcelona; venture to hilltop Gassin for a winetasting overlooking Saint-Tropez; learn to make pesto on the island of Elba; sip Madeira in Madeira; sample Spanish cheeses in La Coruña and paella in Valencia; taste Bandol wines in Provence; andor learn to make the most beloved classic of Portuguese pastry, pastel de nata in Lisbon.
All "Epicurean Expeditions" also include onboard enrichment. A visiting vintner may explain the differences between an aged Nebbiolo and a Beaujolais nouveau. Guests can also attend interactive cooking classes or demonstrations led by the Gastronomic Guest—who might be a local chef or a culinary TV personality. The Gastronomic Guest will also participate, along with the ship’s executive chef, in the Yachtsman Cookoff—Atlas’ version of a culinary “ironman” competition. They will also accompany culinary Cultural Immersion tours.
Tip: For a limited time, suite guests can save up to $500 and earn a $500 excursion credit. Guests in staterooms will receive a $300 savings and a $300 excursion credit. The promotion is good for new bookings on all 2023 Epicurean Expeditions to the Mediterranean, Northern Europe and British Isles made before June 30, 2023.
