Azamara Unveils Shore Excursions for Inaugural Voyage in Greenland

Azamara Cruises has unveiled new shore programming for its Greenland sailings starting in July 2025. In collaboration with local communities, Azamara has crafted immersive shore excursions that provide guests with an authentic experience, showcasing Greenland’s natural beauty through a scenic back country hike and cultural immersion, where guests can get a sampling of Greenlandic superfoods such as Artic char or mattak. Azamara guests will get a chance to engage with Greenland’s unique culture while supporting its local communities.

Azamara’s Greenland itineraries offer shore excursions led by locals that offer an immersive, authentic experience that goes beyond the typical tourist attractions:

  • Qaqortoq Town Walk is a guided exploration of one of Greenland’s most picturesque towns, home to historical landmarks such as the old fountain and “Stone & Man” sculptures, with insights into life in southern Greenland.
  • UTV Mountain Tour is an off-road adventure through Nuuk’s rugged terrain, highlighting key sites like Annaassisitta Oqaluffia (the wooden church) and the Colonial Harbor, concluding with a traditional fish soup tasting at Inuk Hostels Café.
  • Food Tasting & Storytelling itinerary is a scenic backcountry hike near Nuuk paired with a sampling of seasonal Greenlandic superfoods, accompanied by storytelling that delves into the region’s culinary traditions.
  • Sisimiut View Point Hike is a trek showcasing Sisimiut’s dramatic mountain scenery, including a visit to the historic hunter’s quarter with its distinctive duplex houses.

Traveling to Greenland now offers an opportunity to experience a destination that is rapidly changing yet still largely untouched by mass tourism. Greenland is renowned for its coastal villages, immersive cultural experiences like dog sledding, the Midnight Sun that brings 24-hour daylight in summer, and much more. Travelers eager to explore Greenland with Azamara Cruises can choose from several upcoming sailings, including the "15-Night Greenland, Newfoundland & Quebec Voyage," departing July 21, 2025; the "15-Night Quebec, Greenland & Iceland Voyage," departing August 5, 2025; and the "30-Night Path of the Vikings: Scandinavia, Iceland, Greenland & Quebec Voyage," departing July 27, 2026.
