Bahamas Paradise Cruise Line reports it is cancelling three additional sailings to continue its humanitarian relief efforts in the Bahamas following the passage of Hurricane Dorian. The September 21, 23 and 25 sailings on the Grand Celebration have been cancelled as the line continues to work with the Bahamian government and its partners to determine the best course of action for relief efforts.
“We remain open for future bookings and will protect travel agent commissions,” the cruise line said in a statement announcing the cancellations. “We are committed to returning to Grand Bahama Island as soon as we can.”
“We are proud to have played such a vital role in the recovery of Grand Bahama Island after successfully delivering aid to thousands of Bahamians in need following Hurricane Dorian,” said Oneil Khosa, CEO of Bahamas Paradise Cruise Line, in a written statement. “Grand Bahama is our second home, and we are committed to helping our Bahamian brothers and sisters during this time of need. Tourism is a lifeline for the island, and we look forward to returning to our traditional sailing schedule as soon as possible so that we can bring resources, and hope, to the island.”
The Grand Celebration has completed two post-Hurricane Dorian humanitarian sailings to Grand Bahama Island, becoming the first cruise ship to dock in Freeport after the storm and delivering more than 600 first responders and volunteers and more than 700,000 pounds of supplies.
