Carnival Triumph’s four-day cruise, which was scheduled to depart from New Orleans today, November 30, has been cancelled, a Carnival Cruise Line representative tells Travel Agent.
The ship had been originally scheduled to arrive in New Orleans Thursday morning, but, due to a technical issue that is affecting the ship’s maximum cruising speed, its arrival will be delayed until this evening at approximately 8 p.m., Carnival said.
Guests will have the option to disembark the ship and head home Thursday evening or remain onboard and disembark Friday morning. Once debarkation is complete, the ship will sail to Mobile, AL, where the ongoing repair, which involves underwater work, can be more easily accomplished.
Guests scheduled to sail on the November 30 four-day Carnival Triumph cruise will automatically receive a full refund, along with a 25 percent future cruise credit.
“We sincerely apologize to our guests for this disappointing disruption to their vacation plans,” the cruise line said in a statement provided to Travel Agent.
Carnival Triumph’s next itinerary is scheduled to depart Monday, December 4 from New Orleans, calling at Cozumel and Progreso, Mexico, before returning to New Orleans December 9, according to currently published itinerary schedules. The second of Carnival’s five Destiny-class ships, the vessel sails a schedule of four- and five-night itineraries to Mexico from its homeport in New Orleans that began last year.
