Celebrity Cruises has announced that the Celebrity Constellation will homeport in Tampa Bay, Florida, following the ship’s renovation as part of the cruise line’s Celebrity Revolution fleet enhancement program. Sailing out of Tampa, the revamped ship will operate three alternating 10- and 11-night roundtrip itineraries for the winter 2020 season.
The Celebrity Constellation will reposition to Tampa Bay with a 14-night transatlantic crossing out of Barcelona. From the new homeport, it will operate a 10-night eastern Caribbean itinerary calling at San Juan, Puerto Rico; Basseterre, St. Kitts & Nevis; Philipsburg, St. Maarten; Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas; and Samana, Dominican Republic, as well as a pair of 11-night itineraries: a southern Caribbean route calling at Key West, Florida; Kralendijk, Bonaire; Oranjestad, Aruba; Willemstad, Curacao; and George Town, Grand Cayman; and a new “Touch Canal” itinerary sailing to Cozumel, Mexico; Puerto Limon, Costa Rica; the Panama Canal; Colon, Panama; Cartagena, Colombia; and George Town, Grand Cayman.
The Celebrity Constellation is scheduled to undergo its renovations in May 2020 as part of the Celebrity Revolution, a $500 million fleet investment project. Bookings for the ship’s Tampa Bay itineraries will open August 13, 2019.
In a written statement Celebrity Cruises President and CEO Lisa Lutoff-Perlo noted that the cruise line last called in Tampa in 2007.
Since then, recent construction in development in Tampa Bay has included a $3 billion transformation of the city’s waterfront in Water Street, resulting in a 50-acre district with retail, offices, homes, and hotels, as well as cultural and educational spaces. The city also recently completed the Tampa Riverwalk area, which is now seeing hundreds of millions of dollars in private investments, Celebrity said. Additionally, the historic Ybor’s City is also undergoing revitalization.
