Celebrity Cruises is taking its upcoming new cruise ship, the Celebrity Edge, on the road with a cross-country “Leading Edge Mobile Cinema” tour.
From March 29 through June 20, the tour will make 48 stops over 12 weeks, traveling more than 10,000 miles while trying to get travelers excited about the new cruise ship. Attendees will be welcomed on a red carpet into a mobile cinema for a 15-minute movie, including a 3D animatic reveal of the Edge Class, Celebrity’s first new ship class in nearly a decade, of which the Celebrity Edge is the first ship. Guests will also be able to enjoy beverages and gourmet truffle popcorn, as well as have the opportunity to win one of more than 50 giveaways from the cruise line.
The tour will launch on March 29 at the Sonoma International Film Festival. Other tour highlights include the California Jazz & Wine Festival, California Wine Festival, 50th Houston International Film Festival, SPAC Rock & Run, CitiCenter DC, Arlington Heights Promenade of Art, and the Toronto Wine & Spirits Festival on Sugar Beach. At select tour stops, Celebrity’s Marine Research Naturalist Brent Nixon will provide an "Oceans Alive" experience featuring high definition 4K under water filming encounters with sharks, turtles, stingrays, and majestic humpback whales.
The first in an entirely new class of ship for Celebrity Cruises, the Celebrity Edge will incorporate new features like a “Magic Carpet” area off the side of the ship that scales its 16 decks throughout the day and evening. The size of a tennis court, the area positions at four of the ship’s decks throughout the day, offering a new experience at each one. Accommodations will aim to foster a connection to the ocean, with options like the Edge Stateroom with Infinite Veranda offering guests open-air access to the seat the touch of a button. The ship will have nearly double the number of suites as the line’s previous ships, and it will also incorporate a private sanctuary, dubbed The Retreat, with its own sundeck, lounge and round-the-clock butler service.
Bookings are now open, with the ship set to make its inaugural voyage December 16, 2018, after which it will offer two seven-night Caribbean itineraries.
