CLIA Launches New-To-Selling-Cruise Training Sessions

Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA) has announced three virtual training sessions, aimed at travel advisors who are new to selling cruise. Scheduled to be held in November, all sessions will be free of charge and will take just under 30 minutes to complete.

The training sessions will be hosted by Andy Harmer, managing director of U.K. and Ireland, with support from experts across the industry. The sessions will be held on three topics: “Why sell cruise?” (November 10); “Getting started” (November 17); and “The power of switch selling” (November 24).

CLIA also recently ramped up its new-to-selling-cruise information and guidance, and unveiled other initiatives including a “Cruise Daily” news section on its website, a set of four selling guides and a range of other online resources.

Harmer said in a press note: “We fully appreciate the industry is welcoming a number of new travel agents who may be selling cruise for the first time, and want to offer them the support and resources that will allow them to seize the opportunities available.

“Our November training sessions are a valuable part of this program, and we would encourage everyone from across the trade who wants to sell cruises for the first time, or wants to sell more, to join us. We are committed to helping them however we can,” he added.

CLIA’s global headquarters are in Washington, D.C., with regional offices located in North and South America, Europe, Asia and Australasia.
