Emerald Waterways will bring travelers through several famed Christmas markets next holiday season thanks to its new holiday itineraries.
From December 4, 2018, to December 18, 2018, the cruise line will embark on its 15-day “Christmas Markets of Europe” tour bringing guests from Amsterdam to Budapest.
Emerald Waterways is also offering shorter sailings, however. These tours include the “Danube Delights Christmas Market” from Budapest to Nuremberg , Germany departing on December 8, 2018, and the “Danube Explorer Christmas Market” from Munich to Budapest departing on December 1, 2018. Both of these alternative itineraries run for eight days.
Some favorite locations along the Christmas market sailings include Vienna, Austria, where the market is held in front of the city’s rathaus, or town hall, as well as Nuremberg’s Christmas market, which dates back to 1628 and reminds visitors of the town’s history of creating some of “the finest toys in the world." Travelers aboard these holiday-themed cruises will also be able to indulge in Austrian lebkuchen, or a kind of iced honey cake, traditional mulled wines and other holiday delicacies like apple strudel, roasted nuts and stollen, a type of fruit bread originating in Germany. These festive markets will also be selling iconic, hand-crafted holiday toys such as nutcrackers.
Guests booking the 15-day “Christmas Markets of Europe” cruise by September 1, 2017 will enjoy free round trip airfare, while guests booking one of the eight-day cruises by the same date will fly for only $495 per person. Those who pay in full by October 31, 2017 can also reduce the cost of their sailing of choice by up to $400 per couple for eight-day trips and $800 for 15-day trips.
