Next January, G Adventures will add a fifth yacht to its Galapagos Islands fleet in order to meet high demand. The small-group tour operator also announced a new initiative to reduce the number of single-use plastics the company provides.
The company intends for the addition of the Eden yacht to help with increasing demand. From 2016 to 2017, G Adventures experienced a 22 percent increase in global bookings of its marine tours of the Galapagos. From August 2017 through July 2018, the company sold 100 percent of its yacht trips.
The Eden was built in 1996 and refurbished in 2012. This fall G Adventures expects to drydock the Eden for additional upgrades and “G” branding. In January 2019 the 16-passenger Eden yacht will begin offering six itineraries around the North, Central, West, East and Southern islands. Eden’s trips will range from seven to 17 days.
Also starting January 2019, G Adventures will provide guests with a complimentary, reusable water bottle for all its Galapagos trips. According to regional operations manager Gabriela Gomez Coello every Galapagos ship and hotel will include refillable filtered water tanks.
G Adventures provides over 30 different itineraries around the Galapagos Islands, offering both yacht trips and land-based packages. Travelers booking for late 2018 can now receive 10 percent off on ten of these trips.
