Holland America Line (HAL) is welcoming reservations for new itineraries aboard Westerdam starting fall 2022. The new voyages, offered from September 25, 2022, through March 13, 2023, will explore Australia, New Zealand and Southeast Asia.
Two new cruises conclude the Alaska season and reposition the ship in Australia from North America. The line has added a seven-day Alaska cruise roundtrip from Seattle, Washington, departing September 25, extending Westerdam’s season by a week. The ship will then spend 36 days among the isles of the South Pacific en route to Australia’s southern and eastern regions, and the North and South islands of New Zealand. The cruise departs Seattle October 2 and arrives at Sydney November 8. Along the way, the ship makes 14 calls on the islands of Hawaii, Samoa, Fiji, Vanuatu, New Caledonia and Papua New Guinea, and finishes with three Australia visits.
Starting November 8, Westerdam will explore Australia and New Zealand on four cruises spanning 13 to 15 days. The 15-day voyage roundtrip from Sydney will begin on November 8. Ports of call in New Zealand will include Port Chalmers (Dunedin), Lyttelton (Christchurch), Kaikoura, Wellington, Napier, Gisborne, Tauranga (Rotorua), Auckland and Waitangi, with scenic cruising in Fiordland National Park.
The 13-day voyage starting November 23, roundtrip from Sydney, will explore Australia with calls at Port Arthur, Hobart (overnight), Adelaide (overnight), Penneshaw, Melbourne and Phillip Island.
The 14-day voyage from Sydney to Auckland begins December 6. Australian ports include Melbourne and Hobart; New Zealand ports include Port Chalmers, Lyttelton, Kaikoura, Wellington, Napier and Tauranga, with scenic cruising in Fiordland National Park.
The 14-day “Holiday Cruise” from Auckland to Sydney begins December 20. Ports include Tauranga, Napier, Kaikoura, Lyttelton, Port Chalmers, Hobart and Melbourne, with scenic cruising in Fiordland National Park.
In January, the ship will sail from Sydney to Singapore to reposition for a dry dock. The 16-day voyage starts January 3. Ports include Newcastle, Airlie Beach, Cairns and Darwin, Australia; Komodo Island; Lembar and Benoa, both in Indonesia. Two days of scenic cruising in Australia’s Great Barrier Reef is a highlight of this trip.
Following its refurbishment, Westerdam will cruise two new departures in February before sailing on its itineraries in Asia. The 11-day, Singapore roundtrip voyage begins February 3. Ports include Phuket, Thailand (overnight); Port Blair, Andaman Islands, India; and the Malaysian ports of Porto Malai, Langkawi; Georgetown, Penang; Malacca and Port Klang (Kuala Lumpur).
The 13-day Singapore roundtrip voyage begins February 14. Ports include Tanjung Priok (Jakarta), Probolinggo, Surabaya and Semarang (Borobudur), on Java, in Indonesia; Komodo Island; Benoa and Celukan on Bali; and an overnight at Singapore.
The 14-day Singapore to Yokohama (Tokyo) voyage begins February 27. Ports include Puerto Princesa, Boracay and Manila, Philippines; Kaohsiung and Keelung (Taipei), Taiwan; and Ishigaki, Naha and Kochi, Japan.
The Australia and New Zealand cruise can be booked with the “Have it All” package, inclusive of double occupancy for the 13-day sailing. It offers one shore excursion, a “Signature Beverage Package,” one night specialty dining and a “Wi-Fi Surf Package.” Cruise-only standard fares start at a lesser rate and exclude taxes, fees and port expenses.
Guests can also opt for “Collectors’ Voyages” ranging from 24 to 51 days. The voyages combine back-to-back, unique itineraries.
