Hurtigruten has announced its 2020/2021 expedition cruise program, revealing new destinations and ships. Important developments include: Hurtigruten’s first series of expedition cruises in Alaska, the inaugural season the hybrid powered and eco-friendly MS Fridtjof Nansen, the line’s largest selection of Antarctica voyages, and a makeover for MS Fram.
Starting in summer 2020, Hurtigruten will begin sailing around Alaska for the first time. The expedition company will offer eight- to 18-day voyages that visit well-known highlights like the Inside Passage, as well as more off the beaten path destinations, such as the small community of Petersburg. With MS Roald Amundsen sailing Alaskan itineraries, Hurtigruten expects to be introducing the first hybrid powered cruise ship in Alaska. The season will conclude with MS Roald Amundsen completing a Northwest Passage transit from Nome, Alaska to Halifax, Nova Scotia.
The 2020 season will also mark the introduction of Hurtigruten’s second hybrid battery powered cruise ship. Following up the MS Roald Amundsen, the MS Fridtjof Nansen will spend its inaugural season exploring Antarctica, Greenland, Iceland and Norway.
With 31 itineraries lasting between 12 and 23 days, 2020 will also be Hurtigruten’s most expansive season in Antarctica. 2020 will also see the line’s MS Fram undergo a major makeover, reemerging as a new expedition ship.
Hurtigruten is an expedition cruise company that offers travel to Antarctica and the Arctic, as well as other regions around the world, such as the Caribbean and South and Central America.
