Lindblad Creates Sustainability Guide for Travel Advisors

Lindblad Expeditions has launched its brand-new sustainability guide, “A Travel Advisor’s Guide: Sustainable Travel,” for travelers, with a companion piece for the travel advisor community, “How to Talk to Your Clients About Choosing Travel That’s Good for the Planet.”

With the return to travel, sustainability credentials are more than ever impacting travelers’ decisions to seek out companies who not only practice responsible travel but are leading the way in net-zero experiences. Lindblad created the downloadable guide as a tool to educate advisors about the world of responsible travel and allow them to “confidently talk about sustainability with clients.”

“At the core of Lindblad’s DNA is sustainability, transparency, and a responsibility to combat the growing threat to our planet,” said Dolf Berle, CEO, Lindblad Expeditions, in a press release. “The language of sustainability can be confusing, and the launch of our sustainability guide will facilitate meaningful conversations between our advisor community and their clients regarding responsible travel.”

The guide include a "Green Scale" for determining where clients fall on topics ranging from climate action and protecting nature to digging into green business operations. It also covers what Lindblad Expeditions defines as the six core concepts of sustainable travel and issues such as carbon offsetting, conservation, supporting local cultures and people, and even sustainability in dining.

It also offers questions to ask clients so that advisors can help make informed decisions about which travel companies would provide them with the best possible experience while also feeling comfortable about minimizing their impact on the environment.

“Like many consumers, travel advisors are growing increasingly confused about sustainability. What is it? Who does it well? How do I know if what I am hearing from different companies is real? Where do I turn for more information,?” noted Lesa Bain, Lindblad’s VP of Sales, North America in a press release. “This guide was created to help advisors and their clients understand that sustainability is an ever-changing field with entry points for anyone, no matter their prior knowledge of the subject.”
