Mexico-based hotel developer Grupo Vidanta is expanding into cruise travel. The company reports that it will launch its first ship, the Vidanta Elegant, this fall.
After being acquired by Grupo Vidanta, the Vidanta Elegant is undergoing a full strip and rebuild from the hull up, the company said. The ship will have 149 staterooms and suites and a one-to-one passenger-to-crew ratio, and each cabin will have a Personal Concierge to attend to guests’ needs.
Also onboard will be six public decks and dining areas, 11 bars and lounges, an entertainment venue, a full-service spa and fitness center, a top deck pool and several Jacuzzis. Chef Eric Pansu, named Best Chef in France, and Pastry Chef Pascal Molines, named Best Pastry Chef in France and World Pastry Chef Champion, will serve as the ship’s signature chefs.
One key perk: guests will be able to split their trip between the company’s Vidanta Nuevo Vallarta resort and Vidanta Elegant on a single vacation, allowing for an easier way to plan a land-and-sea vacation in Mexico.
Further itinerary details will be announced as they are confirmed, the company said.
Grupo Vidanta has developed hotels and resorts in a number of major tourism destinations in Mexico, including Nuevo Vallarta, Riviera Maya, Los Cabos, Acapulco, Puerto Peñasco, Puerto Vallarta and Mazatlán. Most recently, the company announced plans to open The Estates, a new luxury development at Vidanta Nuevo Vallarta and Vidanta Riviera Maya.
