MSC Cruises’ second Meraviglia Generation ship, the 5,686-guest MSC Bellissima, has left port for its sea trials. The ship marks the fourth next-generation cruise ship the company has launched as part of its $15.6 billion investment plan.
Once MSC Bellissima completes its sea trials, it will return to the Chantiers de l’Atlantique shipyard in Saint-Nazaire, France. Here, the ship will receive some finishing touches before heading to its naming ceremony in Southampton, United Kingdom, scheduled for March 2, 2019.
After its official naming, the MSC Bellissima will spend its inaugural season sailing the Mediterranean. The ship will call weekly at destinations such as Naples, Genoa and Messina in Italy; Barcelona in Spain; Marseille in France; and Valletta in Malta.
The new MSC Bellissima will feature the cruise line’s MSC for Me technology, a service that connects guests with each other, the crew and the ship. Passengers looking to relax can head to the ship’s MSC Aurea Spa or one of its pools. As far as entertainment goes, the MSC Bellissima will present two original Cirque du Soleil shows, as well as offer access to a water park, comedy club, karaoke bar, sports center, full size bowling lanes, Formula 1 simulators and more. The ship will include 12 international dining venues and 20 bars.
