New in Cruise: NCL 's Record Revenue, New in Alaska

For the full year 2024, Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings, parent company of Norwegian Cruise Line, Oceania Cruises and Regent Seven Seas Cruises, posted record total revenue of $9.5 billion, up 11 percent over the same period in 2023. Net income for 2024 was $910.3 million; that was up 448 percent compared to 2023 results. Overall, NCLH reported strong revenue growth and continuing success on the cost efficiency side. In addition, the cruise company said that it's continuing to experience strong consumer demand across its itineraries and brands in 2025 and 2026.

Separately, one former NCLH executive has a new job. Howard Sherman, who previously served as president and CEO of Oceania Cruises through late 2022 and also NCLH's EVP onboard revenue and destinations, has been named president of Huna Totem Corporation's tourism group. He'll oversee many tourism ventures including Icy Strait Point, a popular destination visited on Alaska cruise itineraries.

Princess has expanded its Alaska national park cruisetours, based on the success of its 15-night "National Parks Expedition" cruisetour, launched in 2024. Now Princess will offer new variations visiting three to five national parks. The new cruisetours will combine a seven-day "Voyage of the Glaciers" cruise with scenic rail travel and multiple days on land including stays at four Princess-owned wilderness lodges. Sister brand Holland America Line also announced its lineup of Hawaii and Panama Canal sailings for 2026-27.  

Costa Cruises opened sales for its 2027 World Cruise, Guests will embark in Savona, Italy, November 25, 2026, on an epic 139-day journey aboard Costa Deliziosa that will explore five continents, 29 countries and 47 destinations. New for 2027, guests will have the opportunity to embark Costa’s World Cruise in San Francisco, CA, on January 3, 2027. 

Look for a new “Authors at Sea” enrichment program on board select Seabourn ships. It will showcase best-selling authors, historians and biographers, along with live events and hands-on workshops for aspiring authors. Small Ship News

HX announced $7.2 million in updates and enhancements for two of its small expedition ships. Both will receive new science centers; accommodations will be refurbished; some staterooms and suites will receive new bathrooms; and the dining experience will be elevated and galleys updated for operational efficiency. Work will begin in April on the 250-passenger Fram with the updates completed by May 26, 2025. Work is already under way for the 220-passenger Spitsbergen with completion by April 2, 2025.

River operator AmaWaterways has expanded its lineup of themed “Soulful Experiences” cruises in 2025 and 2026. Joining the 2025 lineup of cruises in Egypt, France, Colombia and Portugal is the “Best of Holland & Belgium.” It’s the first “Soulful Experience” to encompass Kwanzaa and New Year’s as it sails round-trip from Amsterdam on December 27, 2025. Separately, Charles B. Robertson, president and CEO, American Cruise Lines talked one-on-one with Travel Agent about the latest trends in small ship cruising on American rivers, new ships joining the line’s fleet and more.

Paul Gauguin Cruises has introduced a new collection of 2027 itineraries on the 330-passenger Paul Gauguin. In total, the boutique luxury line will offer 34 voyages ranging from seven to 20 nights, exploring the Society Islands, Tuamotus, Marquesas, Cook Islands and South Pacific on 10 itineraries. Among those sailings are a "Boutique Crossing Collection" of three 13-, 17- and 20-night journeys between Singapore, Australia, Fiji and Bali.
