Norwegian Cruise Line announced the return of its Guy Harvey-hosted ocean conservation cruise this fall. For the second year in a row, the cruise company will work with the Guy Harvey Ocean Foundation (GHOF) and Nova Southeastern University’s (NSU) Guy Harvey Research Institute on the sustainability-minded cruise, departing New York October 21.
Sailing aboard the Norwegian Escape, the cruise will offer a range of events and talks hosted by marine artist, conservationist and entrepreneur, Guy Harvey. While in port, Harvey will host interactive presentations for children at local schools, discussing marine life and ocean conservation and advocating environmental awareness.
Other events include presentations and Q&A sessions with scientists from GHOF, a panel from the marine life scientists at NSU on the importance of ocean conservation; and live painting sessions with Guy Harvey where he talks about his transition from marine biologist to marine wildlife artist.
The Guy Harvey cruise will sail round trip from New York for a seven-day cruise from October 21 to October 28. The itinerary includes stops in Port Canaveral; Norwegian’s private island in the Bahamas, Great Stirrup Cay; and Nassau.
The Norwegian Escape, featuring Harvey’s artwork along its hull, is the first entry in Norwegian Cruise Line’s Breakaway-Plus class. It ranks as the line’s largest ship by guest capacity. The 51-year-old cruise line currently operates 16 ships with the next and last Breakaway-Plus class entry arriving in October 2019.
