Marina became the first ship in the Oceania Cruises fleet to resume service following the line's suspension of its operations during the pandemic, which lasted 524 days. Setting sail from the port of Copenhagen on August 29, the ship also became the first to sail from the Danish capital since 2019. The occasion was marked by a ribbon-cutting ceremony, attended by Captain Luca Manzi, Master of the Marina, and Bob Binder, president & CEO of Oceania Cruises.
On its first voyage, Marina is sailing from Copenhagen to ports in Germany, Denmark, Sweden, Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia and Finland, and will conclude in Stockholm. The ship will spend the remainder of the summer and autumn cruising around Western Europe, the Mediterranean, and the Greek Isles prior to setting sail for Miami where it will arrive on December 1.
Marina will soon be joined by Riviera, which resumes sailing in the Greek Isles on October 18, 2021. Insignia will restart its operations from Miami on December 21, 2021, to kick off the epic six-month-long “Around the World in 180 Days” voyage. Sirena is scheduled to resume sailing in the Caribbean on January 21, 2022, and Regatta is slated to begin operations on February 5, 2022, in Polynesia. Nautica will return on April 1, 2022 in the Mediterranean.
All Oceania Cruises voyages require 100 percent of guests and crew to be vaccinated. The line is said to be undertaking a phased restart with its science-backed plan for a healthy return to service that protects the guests, crew and communities visited. The line’s “SailSAFE Health and Safety Program” is aimed to create multiple layers of protection against COVID-19.
