Royal Caribbean Cancels Two Ovation of the Seas Cruises for Maintenance

Royal Caribbean canceled two cruises on Ovation of the Seas in order to conduct maintenance on the ship’s propulsion system, according to a statement from the line provided to Travel Agent.

Guests and travel agents have been informed that the four-night April 26 and 30 sailings were cancelled, the line said.

“The ship is fully operational, and there is no impact on the maneuverability of the ship or on the safety of our guests and crew,” Royal Caribbean said in a written statement. “Since the issue is necessary but not urgent, we explored numerous options, including waiting longer to conduct the work.”

“We sincerely regret that we will be unable to deliver the Royal Caribbean cruise vacation that our guests were looking forward to,” the cruise line said. “We understand that our guest’s vacation time is very precious and can assure you that we did not take this decision lightly.”

The ship is scheduled to resume sailings today, May 4.

Ovation of the Seas is Royal Caribbean’s newest Quantum class ship. It is currently offering cruises calling at ports throughout Asia and Australia.

Recently Royal Caribbean announced that Ovation of the Seas would reposition to Sydney, Australia, for the 2018 – 2019 cruise season, starting in November 2018 and making it the largest ship based in the region. From Sydney Ovation of the Seas will offer a 10-night New Zealand itinerary and a 14-night Singapore to Sydney open-jaw itinerary.
