Silversea Cruises and The Peninsula Hotels have just announced a major new partnership.
The new program will debut with enhanced programming on Silver Muse’s 73-day Grand Asia Pacific Voyage, which departs February 2, 2019, and is now open for bookings. After that, the two brands said that they will also collaborate on other Asia-focused itineraries.
The Grand Asia Pacific Voyage will sail from Sydney to Tokyo, visiting 39 ports in 12 countries. Guests will have the chance to visit Sydney’s Opera House and the fjords of New Zealand’s Milford Sound, as well as stops in Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Thailand, Vietnam, Hong Kong, China and Japan.
During the cruise The Peninsula Hotels will provide and onboard team of local specialists and chefs to interact with guests, as well as arrange exclusive events in select cities in Asia. The cruise will cap with a three-night stay at The Peninsula Tokyo, where guests will take part in a Japanese-themed dinner event in the hotel’s Grand Ballroom.
The Silver Muse is the new flagship of the Silversea fleet. It just debuted this past May, with a design travel agents we spoke with during a preview cruise described as “comfortable but elegant.” Standouts on the new ship agents pointed to included the level of service, with butlers agents described as a bit more interactive than those seen on other lines, as well as other perks like an eight-item pillow menu and a toiletry selection.
The debut of the new flagship is just one of a recent set of fleet updates for the line. The Silver Explorer just debuted a new refurbishment on a May 20 sailing out of Lisbon. The updates, which are part of a $170 million fleet-wide renovation program, included refreshed public spaces, new décor in suites and the conversion of eight Expedition Suites to 16 Vista and View Suites, with most offering a connecting door for families.
The luxury line is also expanding its expedition fleet with the conversion of Silver Cloud into an ice-class expedition ship. In addition to interior updates, the ship’s hull will be strengthened so that it can sail polar waters. The renovated ship is scheduled to join Silversea’s expedition fleet this November.
