Tropical Storm Don: Carnival Magic, Vista Itineraries Modified

Carnival Cruise Line has altered two itineraries onboard the Carnival Magic and Carnival Vista as a result of Tropical Storm Don, a representative of the cruise line tells Travel Agent.

Carnival Magic, which is currently on an eight-day cruise from Port Canaveral that departed July 15, will replace its July 19 call at Curacao with a sea day. On July 20, the ship will call at Amber Cove in the Dominican Republic instead of spending the day at sea, after which it will call at Grand Turk and spend another day at sea before returning to Port Canaveral as previously planned.

Carnival Vista is sailing an eight-day cruise from Miami. Instead of calling at Aruba and Curacao July 20, it will call at San Juan July 19 and St. Maarten July 20. After that it will spend two days at sea before returning to Miami, as planned.

Tropical Storm Don is forecast to move through the Windward Islands in the Caribbean Tuesday and through Aruba, Bonaire and Curacao on Wednesday, bringing winds of up to 70 mph before weakening in the middle of the week.

In terms of air travel, regional Caribbean airline LIAT has cancelled a number of flights as a result of the storm, and it is allowing passengers on affected flights to rebook within the next two weeks with no change fee. The airline warned that passengers who decide to travel but are unable to complete their journey due to disruption caused by weather conditions will not be provided with meals, transportation or hotel accommodation.
