Uniworld Boutique River Cruise Collection has announced a new volunteer experience in India, in partnership with ME to WE, as a pre-cruise extension to its Golden Triangle & the Sacred Ganges itinerary.
Uniworld and ME to WE’s immersive experience in India brings guests to a community to participate in a sustainable development project alongside local families in the Rajasthan region. Throughout this five-day pre-cruise extension, guests will immerse themselves in rural Indian lifestyle.
Guests will lay bricks for a new community classroom and help dig a new clean water system that will improve the irrigation process in the surrounding community. Guests will also participate in centuries-old traditional crafts, like tie-dying and block-printing, and visit the Kumbhalgarh Fort, the world’s second largest wall. Guests are also encouraged to start their morning with yoga, a cultural exercise practiced throughout India.
Cruisers can book ME to WE Immersive Volunteer Trip extensions on remaining 2016 and any 2017 and 2018 Golden Triangle & the Sacred Ganges itineraries, and will be accommodated at the Araveli Cottages and Tented Camp, a property with authentic Indian design, embellished with royal Rajasthani flair, and the Aravalli Mountains as the backdrop. Daily meals will be local Indian cuisine prepared by ME to WE chefs who are able to accommodate dietary restrictions. All ground transfers, transportation, and local sightseeing excursions are included and hosted by an expert guide.
Uniworld encourages guests to become involved in the charitable work of ME to WE. Half of ME to WE’s net profits are donated to its charitable partner, helping travelers make a lasting impact on the communities they visit. The other half of ME to WE’s net profits are reinvested to grow the enterprise and its social mission. The Travel Corporation, the parent company of Uniworld, launched a partnership with Me to WE to provide travelers with a culturally rich and socially conscious opportunity to three iconic destinations.
Uniworld’s Golden Triangle & the Sacred Ganges 13-day river cruise and land itinerary from New Delhi to Kolkata departs on December 8, 2016 and various dates throughout January, February, March, September, October, November and December 2017 and 2018.
