Cruise industry earnings appear heading in the right direction—upward—for 2023. Later this week, Royal Caribbean Group (RCL), parent of Royal Caribbean International, Celebrity Cruises and Silversea Cruises, will report its quarterly earnings. On NASDAQ's website, Zachs Equity Research, having assessed seven analysts' forecasts, believes the consensus EPS (earnings per share) forecast for RCL's quarter will be approximately $1.57 per share. If that's achieved, it's a big improvement from RCL's quarterly loss of $-2.08 for the same three-month period a year ago.
In the Netherlands, the Amsterdam City Council wants to cease cruise ship operations in the future at the city's downtown cruise terminal. However, both Passenger Terminal Amsterdam (PTA) and Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA) stress that there is no change for cruise operations in Amsterdam right now. Cruises operating to/from the downtown terminal are operating normally, while discussions are under way.

On the new itinerary front, several travel companies announced new schedules for 2024 through 2026. Atlas Ocean Voyages has debuted its 2024 voyages on its third, recently acquired ship, World Voyager, while SeaDream Yacht Club unveiled itineraries for its 2026 Caribbean season. Entering its 42nd year of operations, John Hall’s Alaska has announced its 2024 itineraries, including a renewed partnership with Celebrity Cruises.
For fall 2023, Scenic Group will strengthen its Caribbean presence by positioning three Scenic and Emerald Cruises oceangoing yachts in the region.
