The world's cruise industry fleet continues to grow. Virgin Voyages launched its third ship, Resilient Lady, in Greece. The ship will reposition to Australia later this year.
Atlas Ocean Voyages opened new 2023-2024 sailings for its recently added World Voyager, the third ship in its luxury yacht expedition fleet. Separately, Travel Agent has been sailing on sister vessel, World Traveller, this past week in the Mediterranean. We share intel on No. 540, our Horizon (A2) stateroom, plus a peek at No. 535, a Discovery Suite, as well as certain public spaces.
The new Explora Journeys is introducing a multigenerational program for families, according to sister site Luxury Travel Advisor. Families can tap into interconnecting suites, a Nautilus Club for children and teenagers, and special destination experiences.
Hong Kong and the U.S.
“Ahoy, Hong Kong,” is increasingly the case as upscale cruise lines head back to the popular Asian city. During 2023, the Hong Kong Tourism Board expects the city to receive more than 160 ship calls from 16 cruise lines. The city is a popular “turnaround” port for Asian cruise journeys, so pre- and post-cruise city stays are also back.
In the U.S., Princess Cruises has unveiled “Colonial Heritage” itineraries featuring Yorktown, part of Virginia’s "Historic Triangle." Island Princess will operate the cruises roundtrip from New York next summer with port calls at Charleston, SC, Boston, MA, and Halifax, Nova Scotia. The Yorktown calls are Princess' first ever. That port is a gateway to Colonial Williamsburg and Jamestown, and the new voyages lead up to the Sestercentennial (Quarter Millennial) celebrations marking the United States’ 250th birthday.
Carnival Cruise Line has announced future sailings onboard Carnival Venezia; itineraries include a series of departures from Port Canaveral, FL, during winter 2024-2025 prior to the ship’s return to New York in spring 2025. Separately, Carnival Dream rescued 17 people from a capsized raft after leaving a port in Belize last week.
