Allianz Global Assistance Sends Relief Team to Nepal

nepal earthquakeAllianz Global Assistance has sent a medical team to Kathmandu to reinforce aid on site and organize the repatriation of injured tourists, the company reports.
 
Working closely with local authorities, a plane with medical staff onboard has been dispatched to repatriate the first tourists back from the Nepal, Allianz said in a statement announcing the team's departure.
 
The global travel insurance and travel assistance provider set up around-the-clock crisis units following the earthquake to identify customers on site, provide them with the help they need, and support their families back home. To provide 24-hour coverage, two crisis units have been activated in Paris and Brisbane (Australia).
 
Allianz Global Assistance was able to identify impacted customers in Nepal, and will gather more information once its teams arrive on site. The company is also coordinating relief efforts with colleagues from other assistance companies.
 
Allianz Global Assistance expresses its deepest sympathy and solidarity with the pain of the Nepalese people, who have been so violently hit by the earthquake which devastated the country, the company said.
