The Czech Republic has lifted all COVID-19 travel restrictions for its citizens and international travelers. Visitors will no longer need to submit an arrival form or proof of vaccination or a previous infection when traveling from abroad; however, it is still recommended for travelers to verify the conditions of transport (including proof of infectivity, i.e. test, vaccination, illness) directly with the agreed public transport carrier (airplane, bus, train).
“We are very happy all the travel restrictions have been lifted which aligns perfectly with the newly relaunched direct flights on Delta between [New York City] and Prague planned for the summer season,” said Michaela Claudino, director of Czech Tourism USA & Canada.
The Czech Republic’s ninth place in the “World Peace Index” is a boost for the tourism industry, which is anticipating a strong rebound during this year’s summer schedule owing to the decline in COVID cases and a pent-up desire for travel amongst consumers.
In addition, visitors to Prague will have a range of accommodation options to choose from. Hyatt has opened Andaz Prague, the brand’s first property in the Czech Republic. The 176-room hotel is housed in a 1916 building known as the “Sugar Palace” on the edge of Old Town.
The Julius Meinl family also has plans to launch a long-term stay concept. The inaugural location, the Julius Prague, is slated to open in spring and will be designed by Milan design firm Matteo Thun & Partners.
The newest W Hotel is located in Wenceslas Square. Renovations are underway, and will blend the 1905 Art Nouveau-style of the former Grand Europa Hotel with contemporary comfort. It is set to open in 2023.
The Fairmont Golden Prague Hotel is renovating prime waterfront property with its fair share of history as the former Brutalist-style InterContinental Hotel. It will have 297 rooms and suites, a spa, food and beverage venues, and a grand ballroom. The opening is slated for 2023.
Almanac Hotels is also coming to Prague. The brand’s 205-key, Art Deco-style hotel along the Vltava River, just east of Prague’s Old Town neighborhood, is slated to open in 2023. The hotel, focusing on a holistic approach to health and hospitality, will include a Vital Centrum of spa experiences and a medical center.
