The Hartling Group Resorts, which owns three hotels on Turks and Caicos, issued a statement Wednesday reporting no major damage at any of its resorts from Hurricane Maria.
The Sands at Grace Bay, The Palms Turks and Caicos and The Shore Club on Long Bay Beach sustained no major structural damages and the properties will re-open as scheduled on Saturday, September 30 following minor repairs, cleanup and enhancement projects.
“Our teams are safe and sound and we do not expect any disruptions to the guest experience as we reopen and head into our premier season and welcome holiday travelers,” said Ralph Higgs, Turks and Caicos’ minister of tourism, in a written release.
Other Post-Maria Notes From Turks and Caicos
Gansevoort Turks + Caicos reports that it will reopen October 5 following the storm’s passage. According to hotel officials, the storm did not impact Providenciales, although Grace Bay Beach received an expanded beachfront with the deposit of some new sand.
The Turks and Caicos airport has reopened and many island activities and restaurants are expected to resume normal operations by the end of September and early October.
American Airlines has issued a travel waiver for customers flying through Providenciales and St. Thomas through October 31, with rebooked travel to take place through December 31.
