The History Room of Ulupalakua on Maui re-opens after undergoing a restoration and historical curation. It now has historical photos, periodicals, journals and a timeline of important milestones in Ulupalakua from 1841 to present covering the plantation, ranching and winemaking eras, and chronicling King David Kalakaua’s visits to the estate.
It’s located inside the MauiWine’s King’s Cottage, former guest cottage of King Kalakaua, known in Hawaiian history as the “Merrie Monarch” and last reigning king of Hawaii. Open daily from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., admission is free to the public.

The Red Barn Farmstand on Oahu recently announced the debut of a new monthly event series highlighting Hawaii’s farmers and makers of artisanal products.
On Farmers & Friends Fridays, the Barn will offer a special lunch menu showcasing a featured farmer or product vendor. Guests are invited to talk-story with the farmers and makers in the Barn to learn how they farm or how they craft their products, the best ways to use them, recipes and more. The set lunch is offered from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and includes a starter, main dish, dessert and drink for $25. Through the end of summer, Farmers & Friends Fridays will include an afternoon barbecue, beginning at 1 p.m., and pau hana live music from 4 to 6 p.m.
