Celebrate National Day of the American Cowboy in the Stockyards National Historic District (July 23, 2011)
Clients can celebrate the history and heritage of the American Cowboy at the 5th Annual National Day of The American Cowboy (NDAC) July 23 in the Stockyards National Historic District. Voted as the best cowboy tribute event in the nation by American Cowboy magazine, the NDAC features an art contest, a cowboy celebration parade, a watermelon eating contest, tge Fort Worth Herd CowCamp,a most worn-out boot contest ($5 entry fee required), a best mustache contest, a Riscky's rib eating contest ($5 entry fee required), a Cowboy Idol competition and the Fort Worth Herd Cattle Drive. Amon Carter Museum of American Art Marks Anniversary During 50 Fest Event (August 13, 2011)
In honor of the Amon Carter Museum of American Art’s 50th Anniversary, a free celebration called 50 Fest will be held on Saturday, August 13 from 5:30–9 p.m. at the museum. Outside on the plaza, guests will be treated to food, drinks and music performed by two Austin-based bands. Gallery hours will also be extended to allow guest plenty of time to visit their favorite artworks. Visit www.cartermuseum.org.
First-Ever National Reining Horse Association Cowtown Classic to be Held in Fort Worth (August 23-27)
The first-ever National Reining Horse Association (NRHA) Cowtown Classic will be held from August 23 to 27 at Will Rogers Memorial Center in Fort Worth. Reining is a judged event designed to show the athletic ability of a ranch horse within the confines of a show arena. NRHA competitors are required to run one of 10 approved patterns. Reichert Celebration Comes to Fort Worth (September 2 – 11)
Fort Worth and the Will Rogers Memorial Center will welcome the Reichert Celebration, an all-breed horse show and futurity, from September 2 to 11. The Reichert Celebration began in Iowa in 1999 before moving to St. Louis and, most recently, Tulsa, OK, as the show expanded. In 2010, Reichert drew more than 12,000 entries from all 50 states, Canada and Europe. The 2011 show marks the first year of a five-year agreement between the Reichert Celebration and Fort Worth. Rodeo Zone Now Open in Stockyards Station
The Rodeo Zone, now open in Stockyards Station in heart of the Stockyards National Historic District, allows guests of all ages to enjoy life-like robotic bull, bronc and Texas longhorn rides. Clients can also try roping in the roping arena, learn barrel racing techniques on the horse cycles, experience real competitive rodeo on four large viewing screens, compete in a game of horseshoes, ride the mechanical bull and more.
