Insight Vacations has announced its new 2020 Europe and Britain collection of itineraries with over 100 trips, including five new excursions. Additionally, the brand is launching a new “Insight Choice” collection, where guests can choose their own adventures.
Here’s a look at what’s new for 2020:
Country Roads of Wales, Devon & Cornwall
On this new 11-day journey, guests will experience an Insight Choice at Brecon Beacons, a mountain range in South Wales. Guests can choose to explore the fauna and flora on a hike with a ranger or join a lecture with a naturalist. Afterwards, they can enjoy a Farm-to-Table lunch for an authentic, seasonal meal with local ingredients. Guests will stay two nights at Britain’s Bovey Castle hotel, nestled in the valleys of Dartmoor National Park. Also included is an Insight Experience at Sandhouse, a statehouse in Dorchester, where guests can sip Devonshire tea and nibble on scones with the Lady of the Manor, Caroline Huyshe. Guests will then spend two nights at the Red Carnation boutique hotel’s Summer Lodge Country House located within the village of Evershot.
Glorious Switzerland
During this 8-day itinerary, guests will travel up Mount Stanserhorn in its open-top cable car. Atop the mountain, guests can choose to join a Swiss ranger and learn about the local wildlife or they can embark on a leisurely walk through the scenic marmot park and along the Rock-Gipfelweg trail leading to the summit. In Lake Geneva, guests will visit Chillon Castle where they can search for the pillar Lord Byron carved his name into with the help of a local expert. Afterwards, guests will travel by cogwheel train to the Alpine resort of Zermatt where they will be offered a selection of dining options to choose from. In the morning, guests will follow their Travel Director up the mountains for an exclusive orientation of the village.
French Heritage
This updated 22-day summer itinerary will provide guests the chance to explore France and Monaco in chic style. In Paris, guests can select between shopping at the Galeries Lafayette and a guided experience around the vibrant Right Bank led by a local expert. Alternatively, they can join a local cuisine expert to explore small boutique shops and sample sweet treats and delicacies. On July 14, guests will witness France’s Bastille Day, a day that commemorates the end of the French monarchy. That night, guests can view the annual display of fireworks lighting up the city and join in on one of the traditional balls. In Monaco, guests can walk through the old town to see the Royal Palace and yacht-filled harbor. The exploration continues with a visit to Monaco Cathedral, where guests can see the tomb of Princess Grace.
European Rhapsody
Guests can discover Europe’s grandeur and the legacy of the Habsburg dynasty on this 11-day journey of Europe’s imperial cities. Beginning in England, guests can stroll along the Thames for views of the Tower Bridge and Tower of London or walk along the Serpentine in Hyde Park. In Prague, guests will join a local expert for guided sightseeing starting with the 1,000-year-old Prague Castle. In the Austrian capital of Vienna, guests can choose between a visit to a traditional Viennese cafe to enjoy coffee and the famous sachertorte chocolate cake or they can listen to Mozart’s musical masterpiece and participate in a Viennese Waltz dance lesson.
Britain & Ireland Explorer
This 15-day journey starts guests off with a visit to Stratford, the birthplace of William Shakespeare, where guests can learn about the late poet’s life with stories, memorabilia and artifacts. Next, guests will journey down the Royal Mile to see the Palace of Holyroodhouse, the official Scottish residence of Her Majesty, the Queen before heading to Edinburgh Castle to view Scotland's Crown Jewels, the Stone of Destiny and Mons Meg. Guests will then travel to Lake Windermere, where they will travel along Loch Ness and hear tales of the famous Nessie. In Killarney, guests can select between a scenic ride on a horse-drawn jaunting car with the local jarveys or join an easy paced hike with a local expert along the lakeshore.
In addition to Insight Vacations 2020 Europe and Britain collection, the company is also bringing back its Ancient Civilizations collection. Next year, guests can choose from 18 different trips to nine countries, including Egypt, Morocco, Greece and Nepal. In this collection, guests are invited to explore some of the world’s most ancient civilizations in the Eastern Mediterranean, North Africa and the India subcontinent.
