Las Vegas is constantly evolving. Travel Agent reached out to Las Vegas’ hotels and venues to showcase the city’s recent developments for this fall and beyond.
Here are some things to watch for as 2018 ends:
The MSG Sphere at The Venetian is under development. The Madison Square Garden Company had a ceremony on September 27 to unveil the new venue. Features include: an iconic spherical shape; a height of over 360-feet and width of over 500-ft; and more than 18,000 seats (all in front of the stage). It is scheduled to debut in fiscal 2021.The company says it will have “cutting-edge” technology including:
- A fully programmable LED exterior.
- An over 160,000 square-foot display; the largest and highest resolution LED screen.
- An adaptive acoustics system utilizing several technologies.
- An infrasound haptic flooring system.
NoMad Las Vegas is scheduled to open in fall 2018. NoMad says the new installment is going to bring the refinement of a European home to Park MGM with a NoMad casino, hotel and pool. It will also have a NoMad Bar led by Daniel Humm and Will Guidara. The hotel is the product of collaboration between Sydell Group and Make It Nice. Like the other locations, it is designed with the help of Jacques Garcia and it is inspired by the desert encompassing Las Vegas.
The Drew Las Vegas is in its early design stage. Announced in February 2018, the Marriot International and Witkoff collaboration is going to have almost 4,000 rooms and suites along with 500,000 square feet of meeting and convention space. It will be managed by Marriott international once it opens at 2755 Las Vegas Boulevard South, near Circus Circus Hotel & Resort.
Other hotel stories of this year according to the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority include:
- The Electra Cocktail Club in The Palazzo Las Vegas is scheduled to open in September. It completes a cocktail trio—the Venetian Cocktail Collective—which includes Dorsey, Rosina and now Electra.
- The Waldorf Astoria Las Vegas launched on the Las Vegas Strip at the end of August 2018. The hotel that was formerly Mandarin Oriental Las Vegas is planning a guest room restyle for summer 2019.
- The Cosmopolitan Las Vegas opened Block 16 Urban Food Hall: a fast-casual eatery featuring several restaurants.
- La La Noodle is coming to Park MGM on November 2018. It is going to serve Chinese, Vietnamese and Thai cuisine.
- The W Hotel at SLS Las Vegas is now part of the full resort operation and called The Grand Tower. The SLS Brand is also going to halt its membership as a Starwood Tribute Portfolio Hotel & Resort.
- Hong Kong’s Mott 32 is set to open in winter, 2018 at The Palazzo at The Venetian Resort Las Vegas. It will be one of several locations.
