Pool season in Las Vegas officially kicked off last month and with warmer weather right around the corner, a number of hot spots have released the details of their upcoming summer events and lineups. From pool parties with live entertainment to private cabanas and more relaxed lounge atmospheres, Travel Agent has the scoop on Las Vegas’ pool scene for 2018.
Encore Beach Club at Wynn Las Vegas is open for the season with its latest lineup of electronic music, DJs, dancing and high-energy pool parties. With 55,000 square feet of outdoor space and 5,000 square feet of indoor space, the club is composed of three tiered pools, eight private bungalows offering views of the Las Vegas Strip, 26 private cabanas, 12 daybeds and 10 deck lounge areas. There are also six outdoor gaming pavilion spaces, as well as banquette seating in an indoor section of the nightclub for accommodating larger groups.
This season’s resident DJs at Encore Beach Club include Afrjojack, Alesso, Black Coffee, The Chainsmokers, Cheat Codes, David Guetta, Dillon Francis, Diplo, DJ Snake and DJ Vice. Also on the schedule are Duke Dumont, Flosstradamus, Galantis, Jamie Jones, Jauz and Kygo, among others.
"This summer we're especially excited about our wildly popular NightSwim pool parties at Encore Beach Club which are now every Thursday, Friday and Saturday" says Alex Cordova, Wynn Nightlife managing partner. "Wynn Las Vegas is the only destination on the Strip where guests can enjoy a nighttime pool party every night of the weekend with the best DJs in the world."
Guests looking for VIP treatment may be interested in Encore’s signature bottle service called “Meet the DJ,” which includes a photo-opportunity and a meet and greet with a headlining DJ at the end of their set. A Methuselah (6.0L) of Armand de Brignac Brut and 25 bottles of house bubbly are also included in the package.
In addition to the poolside entertainment, Encore Beach Club also has a grill serving up salads, sandwiches, wraps and BBQ items during the day.
Encore Beach Club’s daytime hours from April through September are 11 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. on Fridays and Sundays, and 10:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. on Saturdays. Nightclub hours through October are on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays from 10:30 pm to close.
Also releasing its initial entertainment lineup for the 2018 season is Flamingo Las Vegas’ GO Pool Dayclub. Guests have access to 15 acres of pool areas, lagoons and a waterfall, as well as 14 cabanas and 35 daybeds available for daily bookings. This summer the GO Pool will have a number of ongoing special events, contests, go-go dancers, VIP cabanas and rotating resident DJs.
GO Pool’s summer schedule includes special Saturday performances, with tickets available for $10 for Flamingo hotel guests and $20 for non-hotel guests.
“This year, the Flamingo Las Vegas’ GO Pool Dayclub will have a new entrance and sense of arrival, as well as a brand-new stage being built for our popular Saturday pool party and country concert series,” says Steve Sagan, general manager of the Flamingo Las Vegas’ GO Pool Dayclub.
“Confirmed performers for this year include Taboo of The Black Eyed Peas, Austin Mahone, Naughty by Nature, Bow Wow, Mase, Ja Rule and many more to be announced. We’ll also be introducing a Latin music night at our Beach Club, to be held every Saturday evening.”
The “Let’s Get It Started” entertainment event begins with Taboo of the Black Eyed Peas on May 5 who will perform a DJ set on Saturday, and will later return on Saturday, July 7. Grammy award-winning DJ Dave Aude will be on location Saturday, May 19, and on June 9 guests will enjoy the music of singer/songwriter Austin Mahone. Musical group Naughty by Nature will perform live on Saturday, June 16 and the following week, rapper Bow Wow will entertain guests on Saturday, June 23.
The “Feel So Good” event at GO Pool will kick off on July 14 with a performance by ‘90s Platinum-selling rapper Mase, and on July 21 guests will be enjoy entertainment by musical guest T-Pain. DJ Eddie Edge will perform on July 22. The “Livin’ It Up” event begins with a live performance by recording artist Ja Rule on July 28.
In addition to these scheduled performances, GO Pool is open the public seven days a week and offers free entry for all guests ages 21 years and older all day Sunday through Friday. Daily drink specials are also on offer. The 21 and over adult pool deck also has a tiki hut covered gaming area with four blackjack tables and one craps table, available from 11 am to 6 pm Thursday through Monday. GO Pool Dayclub is open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. through September 3.
Making its arrival to the Las Vegas’ pool scene this year is the recently opened pool area at Park MGM. According to Patrick Miller, Park MGM’s president and COO, the space was designed to be the focus for social gathering where guests can connect and unwind, and is meant to balance the energy of the city with the sophistication of a European retreat.
Guests at Park MGM have access to three pools – the South Pool, the East Pool and the North Pool – each with Baja shelf seating and submerged wet decks. Additionally, there is an oversized heated spa, 12 cabanas, lounge areas and chaises located throughout the deck, as well as several bars serving up light bites and drinks. Guests also have the option to upgrade to the VIP area situated by the East Pool. Private cabanas are available for reservation, each fit with a 55-inch LED television, misting system, personal safe, lounges and umbrellas. Park MGM’s new pool space is open 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily.
Pool goers headed to Las Vegas who are also into the culinary scene might be interested in visiting the Citrus Grand Pool Deck at Downtown Grand Hotel & Casino. The 35,000 square foot venue can accommodate 1,500 guests and its fit with 15 semi-private cabanas, a special event space, infinity pool, restaurant and full bar, a fire pit, backyard games including corn hole, foosball and table tennis, and a grassy seating area with umbrellas and outdoor day beds.
In addition to entertainment and poolside activities, the menu at Grand Citrus Pool Deck was created by chef Scott Commings, the season 12 winner of popular television show Hell’s Kitchen. Lighter dishes include a watermelon, jicama and feta salad with lime dressing and mint, and the Citrus Salad with sliced grapefruit, oranges, endive and hearts of palm. There are also a variety of flatbreads including the Margherita with tomato, basil, fresh mozzarella and olive oil, as well as the BBQ Chicken with balsamic onions and a cheddar/mozzarella blend.
Signature cocktails at Grand Citrus Pool Deck include “Recovery Lemonade” made with Espolon tequila reposado, pink guava puree, fresh lime and Recover 180 citrus hydration. There is also the “Passion Punch,” a mixture of Belvedere mango passion vodka, Meyer lemon, ginger liqueur, lime, pineapple juice and lemon-lime soda.
Beginning in May, Grand Citrus Pool Deck will be open 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. and admission is free to everyone, including locals. Cabana rates start at $250 for reservations Monday through Thursday, and $350 Friday through Sunday. DJ's and other poolside entertainment will take place every Friday, Saturday and Sunday also beginning in May.
