Mazatlán's beach and tourism spot, Olas Altas, has a new look with the completion of renovations made to the Malecón boardwalk. The infrastructure improvements include new sidewalks, light fixtures, and bike pathways that provide easier passage for cyclists and pedestrians. Additional improvements have been made to the cobblestone streets, restaurants, and boutique hotels along Olas Altas.
Though new additions have been made to the area, old landmarks remain, including El Venadito, a symbol of the etymological origin of the name of the city in the statue of a deer. Another landmark, the Carpa Olivera, is the oldest natural pool in Mexico and was recently refreshed two years ago.
Members of the tourism industry are expected to see the renovations at Tianguis Turístico, the global tourism event that hosts hoteliers, travel agents, tour operators, OTA’s, meeting planners, airline executives and travel media from more than 80 countries. Tianguis Turístico Mexico 2018 will be held at the International Convention Center from April 16-19, 2018.
Mazatlán is a Mexican resort town along the Pacific Ocean. Founded in 1571, its Historic District, 19th-century landmarks include the performance hall Teatro Ángela Peralta and the Conception Basilica. Beaches line the four-mile long Malecón boardwalk, the newly developed Nuevo Mazatlán area where two marinas and two professional golf courses sit, and the district of Zona Dorada which is known for nightlife and hotels. From Mazatlán, Mexican towns like El Fuerte, Cosalá, Mocorito and El Rosario are a day-trip away.
