The Original Group’s Temptation Cancun Resort has reopened after a nearly year-long rebuild. Billing itself as the “Playground for Grown-Ups,” the property caters to guests 21 and above.
Canadian designer Karim Rashid led the redevelopment of the beachfront all-inclusive. Rashid’s familiar “sensual minimalism” style has appeared in luxury goods, furnishings, interior spaces (Morimoto, Philadelphia) and even home product packaging (Method hand soap).
The resort’s new 430 guestrooms, public spaces and multi-colored seven-story façade reflect that signature style.
“The biggest challenge has been accomplishing this renovation within record time. With almost 1,500 employees and eleven months of hard work, we were able to achieve this. Another challenge was integrating the curved designs of our new Temptation’s structure, as well as testing building materials to make sure they’re able to adapt successfully to Cancun’s tropical climate,” Mario Cruz, concept manager for Original Group, tells Travel Agent.
Each room and suite of the Temptation Cancun Resort has a private terrace or balcony with views of the Caribbean or on-site tropical gardens. Rooms include free Wi-Fi and 24-hour room service. Several of them also feature pool and beach butler service, pillow menus, outdoor Jacuzzis, aromatherapy and Blissful Beds.
Leading the lineup of eight new restaurants at Temptation Cancun Resort is a couples-only experience called “SHE.” Five bars include the rooftop “Sky 3.5 Bar,” scheduled for an October opening. It will offer music and special performances, as well as casual bites.
Cruz explains Temptation Cancun Resort’s dress code — or lack thereof — to Travel Agent.
“Temptation is a topless-optional property only in the beach, pool and sundeck areas. For our guests’ comfort and privacy, our beach is the only topless-optional one in Cancun and there are no vendors wandering around. Guests can choose to go topless as well during select activities, such as theme nights and nighttime contests,” said Cruz.
The resort’s Spa Rosé offers couples treatments as well as body wraps, massages, facials, and hydrotherapy. Resident DJs preside over the music-filled, high-energy “Sexy Pool.” While, the “Quiet Pool” offers a more peaceful experience. Another venue, called BASH, features nightly DJs, a bar menu and array of programming.
“I’m looking forward to the resort’s grand opening launch party on October 16 in conjunction with Cancun Travel Mart’s opening ceremony,” says Cruz. "The staff is also very excited and looking forward to welcoming guests to an upgraded version of Temptation and showing them everything that’s new."
Original Group has already announced plans to expand its international portfolio in 2019 with a new resort in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic.
Seadust Cancun Family Resort
There’s also Cancun hotel news in the family-friendly category. The property formerly known as the Great Parnassus Family Resort has reopened as the Seadust Cancun Family Resort. The 505-room all-inclusive is in the hotel zone.
After its multimillion-dollar enhancement, the property has emerged with seven restaurants, 11 bars, two snack bars, a bakery and coffee bar. A theater will offer live shows.
Guests of Seadust Cancun Family Resort can enjoy three infinity pools plus an adults-only pool. The Zenserenz Spa offers a hydrotherapy circuit, Swiss and Vichy Showers and other amenities. Kids have their own dedicated spa menu that includes manicures, pedicures, facials and other treatments. They’ll need the down time, after hitting the Treasure Island Water Park. It has a mini golf course, 20-foot rock climbing wall and 245-foot zip line.
Beloved Playa Mujeres spa
Down time, adult style is on tap for a full week this winter at Beloved Playa Mujeres.
The all-inclusive boutique hotel is presenting a week of wellness, nutrition and fitness under the heading “Joy of Life.” The inaugural event takes place the week of December 11-17.
The “Joy of Life” workshops incorporate the Caribbean Sea setting and other local influences. The roster of activities includes Ashtanga, Bikram, Asunara, Hatha, Ying and SUP yoga; Pilates; vegan cooking; couple’s workouts; Mayan meditation; outdoor TRX; reflexology and aqua fitness.
It’s an intriguing option for holiday travel, girl’s getaways or couples looking to de-stress.
"Wellness is not only about fitness, healthy eating or spa,’” Beloved general manager Roberto Díaz tells Travel Agent. "Wellness is so much more. It's about making a pause to admire nature, increase consciousness, connect with others, being grateful for what we have and being joyful for the sole fact of being alive. This is the essence of Beloved Wellness Week. We want to make it ‘A Celebration of Life."
