Since 2013, Mondays Dark has been a twice-monthly show, which hopes to raise $10,000 in 90 minutes for various charities. The show costs $20 to enter but the entertainment is always kept in the dark, for lack of a better term.
Mark Shunock, a Lion King and Rock of Ages veteran, founded the event, opting to host his shows on Mondays when traditional theaters are dark. Even better: All of the fundraising is for local charities, keeping the money in the city.
Mondays Dark are held in The Space, a 300-person performing arts building, just minutes away from The Strip. Entertainment has included Cirque du Soleil performers sans makeup, doing something that their shows wouldn’t typically include or the cast of Jersey Boys singing Madonna classics. A recent show theme was music from Disney/Pixar films, including “You’ve Got a Friend in Me” from Toy Story, “Get Your Kicks on Route 66” from Cars, and a bit with strings and balloons, in tribute to Up—all performed by varying artists.
Good to know: The event is for adults only, as Shunock hosts the event; his jokes are reported to be very R-rated and the live band is known for taking Jell-o shots with the audience. In addition to $20 admittance, guests can opt for $50 premium table seats or $30 reserved seating.
