The Pfeiffer Canyon Bridge on California’s Highway 1 through Big Sur has reopened following the deadly Napa and Sonoma wildfires, a representative of area hotel Post Ranch Inn tells Travel Agent.
The news is the latest reopening since the outbreak of the fires in early October. The California Association of Boutique and Breakfast Inns (CABBI) reports that all but one of its 46 member inns in Napa, Sonoma and Mendocino Counties are open for business, with the one remaining property, Kenwood Inn & Spa, expected to reopen soon.
Jim Beazely, who owns The Beazely House Bed & Breakfast Inn in Napa, said he toured the Highway 29 and Silverado Trail wine tasting routes, and that, although some fire damage is visible along the Silverado trail, over 99 percent of Napa wineries remain open, according to CABBI.
Last week Visit California launched a marketing campaign that aims to bring tourists back to the wine region, arguing that most businesses are open, and that tourism dollars will help speed the region’s recovery. A list of open tourism businesses is available at:
