Weather.com is reporting that Otto was downgraded to a tropical storm early Wednesday morning, but will still landfall in either Nicaragua or Costa Rica on Thanksgiving Day, possibly as a hurricane.
According to the report, a hurricane warning is in effect along parts of the Central American coast. Heavy rain, flooding and mudslides are the greatest concerns for Central America.
Tropical Storm Otto, earlier the seventh hurricane of the 2016 Atlantic hurricane season, is about 24 hours away from an extremely rare late November landfall in Nicaragua or Costa Rica, posing the danger of flooding and mudslides in parts of Central America, according to the report.
As far as how Otto is influencing travel on the sea, Cruise Critic is reporting that at least one cruise line has been affected by Tropical Storm Otto.
According to the report, Norwegian Cruise Line has adjusted Norwegian Pearl's itinerary, which initially included a call at Limon, Costa Rica, on Tuesday, November 22. Cruise Critic is reporting that the ship will now spend the day at sea; it is expected to arrive in Roatan, Honduras, on Thursday, November 24, as scheduled.
Two more ships -- Coral Princess and Oceania Regatta -- are scheduled to call on ports within the vicinity Thursday, when the storm is expected to be more inland. Cruise Critic has reached out to the lines, which are closely monitoring the storm. So far, no further itineraries have been altered, according to the report.
