St. Kitts’ “Summer of Fun” Sets the Stage for an Exciting Fall

This summer, the St. Kitts Tourism Authority curated a myriad of authentic experiences for visitors: The annual St. Kitts Music Festival, Restaurant Week, Culturama and the Caribbean Premier League. Heading into the fall, the island continues to capture global attention with the new JetBlue airlift route and the upcoming National Carnival.

The newly launched “Summer of Fun” campaign was a major success as the island ramped up marketing efforts to catapult the destination from a seasonal getaway to a year-round tourist destination. In June, the island celebrated its 25th edition of the St. Kitts Music Festival—a three-day concert with performances by artists of various genres. This year proved successful, with flights and hotels fully booked as visitors traveled regionally and internationally to see performances by Burna Boy, Air Supply, Chronixx, Koffee and more.

July focused on the culinary delights of the twin islands as both locals and visitors immersed themselves in the Nevis Mango Festival and St. Kitts-Nevis Restaurant Week. These events included food fairs and discounted menus that highlighted this year’s key ingredient of pineapple. Closing out the week was St. Kitts’ Grillfest, where local chefs competed for the title of best grilled poultry, pork and seafood on the island.

Celebration of Kittitian and Nevisian culture came to life during Culturama, Nevis’ Carnival, held in the first week of August. This event showcased a range of prime calendar events, including pageants, calypso and street parades. The “Summer of Fun” campaign concluded with the Caribbean Premier League, where locals rallied around the St. Kitts-Nevis Patriots during a series of friendly T-20 cricket matches against other regional teams.

St. Kitts welcomes fall with the inaugural flight of JetBlue Airways, offering year-round service from New York (JFK) to St. Kitts three times a week. Ahead of the new JetBlue route launch, St. Kitts took the spotlight on the premiere episode of “The View” on September 5. The show highlighted a free trip for two, along with exclusive content focusing on the JetBlue launch as a key part of the segment. In addition, United will expand its service from November 2023 to August 2024, and Air Canada will increase seat capacity by 66 percent and add service on Friday. Caribbean Airlines has also initiated service to St. Kitts, further connecting the island to key destinations of Barbados, Trinidad and Antigua. The destination will also see the return of American Airlines, Delta, and British Airways as St. Kitts is poised to increase stayover visitation for fall and winter 2023/24.

Visitors to the island from December 15, 2023 to January 2, 2024 will have the opportunity to immerse themselves in the St. Kitts-Nevis National Carnival. This celebration spans “over two years” with signature events, including J’ouvert, concerts, folklore performances and street parades on New Year’s Day.
