The Hottest Events in Hawaii for Sports Fans

From basketball to canoeing, there are a handful of upcoming Hawaii sporting events that clients heading to the Aloha State might like.

With a little help from the Hawaii Visitors and Convention Bureau (HVCB), Travel Agent tells you how to pitch each of these sporting events in Hawaii.

Sports fans traveling to Molokai might like the Molokai Hoe men's canoe race on Oct. 8. The event draws paddling teams from Hawaii and around the world, crossing the challenging Kaiwi Channel, which flows between the two islands on a 41-mile course from Hale O Lono Harbor on Molokai to Waikiki Beach on Oahu.

The Ironman World Championship, taking place October 14 on the Island of Hawaii, and the XTERRA World Championship off-road triathlon on Oct. 29 on Maui, offer up extreme land and ocean challenges.

If your clients are NBA fans, we suggest incorporating the Clippers Hawaii Classic, taking place on Oct. 1 and Oct. 3, into their itinerary.

For the first time, the Los Angeles Clippers will be Oahu bound this fall to host two preseason games and a pregame Fan Fest in Honolulu.

Basketball enthusiasts might like the 2017 Maui Invitational, a premier early-season men's college basketball tournament featuring teams battling for the Wayne Duke Championship Trophy from Nov. 20 - 22.

If your clients are professional tennis devotees, suggest that they attend the Hawaii Open on Oahu from Nov. 19 - 26. It is a Women's Tennis Association tournament featuring players from around the world.
