"Vallarteando" Now Offered at Velas Vallarta

Velas Vallarta in the Mexican city of Puerto Vallarta is launching a new experience that combines the country’s arts and crafts with authentic food and beverage tastings. In a street fair set-up, the event, "Vallarteando," allows guests to explore traditional cuisine and beverages, besides offering the chance to learn various crafts from Mexican artisans.

Popular Mexican delicacies served at the event include Zarandeado fish and Embarazado shrimp that have local origins and are cooked over open coals; and tacos with Birria—a stew made with a combination of chilies, goat meat, adobo, garlic, cumin, bay leaves, and thyme, and cooked on a low flame. Cocktails made with Tequila, Raicilla, and Mezcal and non-alcoholic options such as Mexican hot chocolate and agua frescas (fresh fruit blended with water) complement the menu.

Besides the tastings, guests will be guided by the resort’s artisans in painting “calavera” and beading bracelets. Calavera, meaning skull in Spanish—often referred to as a “sugar skull”—is a prominent cultural and artistic element of the Day of the Dead. The Mariachi orchestra, originating in Jalisco (the state of Puerto Vallarta), will entertain guests with live music.

Offered monthly, Vallarteando is part of Velas Vallarta’s rotating schedule of complimentary dining offerings and entertainment activities for guests. Rates at the resort start at $174 per person per night, based on double occupancy. All-inclusive rates include suite accommodation, à la carte gourmet meals at a variety of specialty restaurants, premium branded beverages, 24-hour in-suite service, fitness center, taxes and gratuity, among others.
