What to Do in Las Vegas Over Mexican Independence Day Weekend

Las Vegas travelers can celebrate this year’s Mexican Independence Day all weekend long with a lineup of concerts, festivals, parties, and attractions.

Concerts and Shows

This Mexican Independence Day weekend, travelers can see musical performances, stand-up comedy and championship boxing, with acts like Jennifer Lopez, Luis Miguel and Enrique Iglesias headlining.

Jennifer Lopez will sing at Zappos Theater in Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino on September 12, 14 and 15. Plus, visitors will be able to see Carlos Santana perform at the House of Blues in the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino on September 12, 14, 15, 16 and 19.

Visitors to the MGM Grand Hotel & Casino can see Banda MS, Caifanes and Romeo Santos perform at MGM Grand Garden Arena. Banda MS and Caifanes will take the stage September 14, while Santos will follow the next day, September 15.

Additionally, The Colosseum at Caesars Palace will host Latin superstar, Enrique Iglesias, on September 15 and 16. Other musical artists include mariachi singer Alejandro Fernández, performing at Mandalay Bay Events Center in the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino September 15.

Comedian Gabriel Iglesias will do a stand-up show at The Mirage Hotel & Casino on September 15 and 16. At T-Mobile Arena, middleweight boxers Canelo Alvarez (a Mexican professional boxer) and Gennady Golovkin will fight September 15.

Nightlife

Several big-name clubs are hosting weekend celebrations for Mexican Independence Day weekend. In Caesars Palace’s OMNIA Nightclub, a number of well-known DJs will take the stage. At OMNIA, the weekend starts with platinum-selling artist, Calvin Harris, performing on Friday, September 14.

At the Hakkasan Nightclub in the MGM Grand, Lil Jon will perform a DJ set on Thursday, September 13 and Kaskade will perform on Friday, September 14. On Saturday, September 15, Tiësto and Dzeko will perform in the Main Club while the DJ duo, Breakfast N Vegas, will perform in the Ling Ling Club.

At the 1 Oak Nightclub at The Mirage, hip hop artist Tyga will perform for one night on September 15.

Golden Nugget Beer Fest

The Golden Nugget Las Vegas Hotel & Casino will host its ninth annual Beer Fest on September 15. The event will showcase over 100 beers from over 30 breweries, as well as beer-inspired food and live entertainment. Pre-sale tickets start at $64.

BEER PARK

BEER PARK at Paris Las Vegas will celebrate Mexican Independence Day with street tacos, live entertainment and more on Sunday, September 16. BEER PARK will offer carne asada, pork and chicken street tacos, available from its roaming taco cart, priced at $5 each. A Mexican-style hot dog will also be available, made with a bacon-wrapped Bavarian sausage and topped with onion, mayo and jalapeño.

Inaugural Fall NASCAR Race Weekend

Following years of efforts to bring a second NASCAR race to Las Vegas, the sport’s top drivers will return on September 13-16 for the inaugural Fall NASCAR Race Weekend at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

The weekend includes the inaugural South Point 400 Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series playoff race, the DC Solar 300 NASCAR Xfinity Series race, the World of Westgate 200 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series playoff race and the Star Nursery 100 NASCAR K&N Pro Series West race at The Dirt Track. The Cup Series race will be the first race of the playoffs for the top 16 drivers, and Las Vegas is the only track with two triple-header weekends on the NASCAR schedule. 

The weekend will also include a NASCAR Burnout Boulevard event on the Las Vegas strip, NASCAR playoffs party downtown on the Fremont Street Experience, and a free concert by Cole Swindell.

New Virtual Reality Adventure

Mexican Independence Day travelers can be among the first to experience Madame Tussauds Las Vegas’ new team-based virtual reality adventure. 

The collaborative virtual reality experience, which opened on Labor Day Weekend in partnership with Virtual Room USA, allows groups of 2-4 people to participate in up to four, 15-minute timed virtual reality challenges all while communicating with their teammates. Teams set off on a journey through history’s most iconic moments, solving puzzles and challenges along the way. Together, teams will explore Ancient Egypt and the Middle Ages, get close to dinosaurs and travel to the moon, under the ocean and beyond. 

Virtual Room is a sold as an upgrade with tickets from $12. The experience is designed for players ages 12 years and up and ideal for groups of friends, family, birthday parties and more.
