August 8 marks the one-year anniversary of the devastating Maui wildfires. To continue the support for those who lost their homes, Hua Momona Farms—which has been partnering with chefs to provide 5,000 free hot meals every month—will be organizing the Maui Music & Food Experience, being held September 5-7.
The multi-night festival will support the work of Hua Momona Farms and its philanthropic arm, Hua Momona Foundation, and raise donations for food, housing and mental health resources for those affected by the wildfires.
Here’s what to expect:
September 5: “Night at the Farm” at Hua Momona Farms
The limited-capacity engagement serves as a “thank you” to top patrons. These guests can enjoy an exclusive meet-and-greet with musicians and the finalist celebrity chefs from the show “Next Level Chef.”
September 6: "Celebration at The Ritz-Carlton Maui"
This celebration will take the form of a concert gala at The Ritz-Carlton Maui, Kapalua Aloha Pavilion with celebrity chefs, a live auction (including a commemorative guitar signed by the musicians), multiple music acts and more.
September 7: "Music at the MACC"
Guests will gather at the Maui Arts & Cultural Center (MACC) for an outdoor concert in the courtyard, followed by a special indoor concert. Packages include round-trip transportation from the host resort to the MACC.
Event musicians will play their own material and help honor the 1970 Hendrix concert on Maui as a centerpiece for the final concert. Some of those on board so far include Charlie Sexton (Bob Dylan), Howard Levy, Ivan Neville, Darryl Jones (The Rolling Stones), Bernard Fowler, Ivan Julian, Wayne Baker Brooks, Ronnie Baker Brooks and original Band Of Gypsies member Billy Cox, who played with Jimi Hendrix at Woodstock and Mau, plus others.
Celebrity chefs will also interact with participants at a series of food stations while serving food prepared by Hua Momona Farms’ gourmet commercial kitchen team to the instructions of each chef at the "Night at the Farm."
