In the last few years, Marriott International’s Hawaii Resorts Collection has invested in property-wide renovations for all six of its oceanfront Autograph Collection and Marriott resorts across four Hawaiian islands.
But in case you lost track, Travel Agent breaks down the upgrades of all six hotels.
Mauna Kea Beach Hotel, Autograph Collection (Waimea, Hawaii Island)
The popular Hawaii property, known for its museum-worthy collection of Asian and Pacific art curated by founder Laurance S. Rockefeller, joined the Autograph Collection in 2015.
The property unveiled new meetings spaces, including the Kaunaoa Ballroom, following a $4.5 million renovation. The new ballroom is framed by views of Kaunaoa Bay and coastline via its floor-to-ceiling windows. The resort also debuted the Copper Bar with its team of mixologists hand-crafting cocktails, some which include honey sourced from Mauna Kea Resort apiaries.
Koloa Landing Resort at Poipu, Autograph Collection (Koloa, Kauai)
The resort became the newest addition to the Hawaii Resorts Collection in March following its multi-year, $110 million expansion. This included a new 12,000 square-foot grand ballroom and two outdoor lawns.
The resort also features the newest pool complex in Hawaii, comprised of a new saline lagoon-style pool with cabanas, swim-through grottos and waterfalls. A new poolside bar and grill concept, Holoholo Grill, is a collaboration with celebrity chef Sam Choy and features island-inspired Hawaiian comfort food.
Waikiki Beach Marriott Resort & Spa (Honolulu, Oahu)
The resort continues to unveil enhancements followings its $22 million transformation in February 2016, which included the transformation of the Nanea Lobby and remodeled event spaces. The lobby features a soaring wooden-carved art piece by Hawaiian artist Kaiwi Yoon.
The renovated Kona Moku Ballroom features a stunning glass-blown chandelier and a lanai overlooking the lobby's new water feature. The Kuhio Beach Grill is a bourbon bar featuring a prime rib buffet.
In 2018, the resort will begin upgrading its 1,310 rooms.
Waikoloa Beach Marriott Resort & Spa (Waikoloa, Hawaii Island)
A multi-million dollar renovation, completed in this summer, features a new arrival experience, modernized guest rooms and refreshed interiors.
As part of the renovation, the resort debuted Akaula Lanai, a new espresso bar that transitions to a cocktail lounge at sunset, and a refresh of its popular Hawaii Calls restaurant.
Located on Anaehoomalu Bay, the resort will debut an upgraded luxury wing in 2018.
Kauai Marriott Resort (Lihue, Kauai)
Located on Kalapaki Beach and one of the only hotels in the state to offer event space that leads straight into the sand, the resort recently installed waterfront fire pits. Physical upgrades to the resort are matched by new guest experiences including the, “Experience Kauai Outdoors” package which allows guests to go tubing in Kauai’s backcountry.
Wailea Beach Resort – Marriott, Maui (Wailea, Maui)
The $100 million property debuted in December 2016. Wailea’s original resort has been upgraded to include five pools with one featuring one of Hawaii’s longest waterslides, anew Kids’ Club and redesigned rooms and suites, along with the modernization of all indoor/outdoor meeting and event spaces.
Six new dining options, including HUMBLE MARKET KITCHIN by Roy Yamaguchi, Whale’s Tale oceanfront juice bar and Mo Bettah Food Truck, offer distinct culinary experiences.
