At the recent Travel Impressions Best of the Best conference, AMResorts executives shared the latest on the company’s new, newly renovated and upcoming resorts in Mexico and the Caribbean. Both Travel Impressions and AMResorts are part of Apple Leisure Group.
The Now Emerald Cancun Resort & Spa opened June 1, 2019. The beachfront resort, which is set between the Caribbean Sea and the Nichupte Lagoon, has 427 guestrooms and suites. The property is also an eight-minute drive from the Cancun airport.
On October 1, the Sunscape Akumal Beach Resort & Spa opened in the Riviera Maya. The 360-room resort has four pools, including two for Sun Club guests only, family-friendly activities such as the Explorer’s Club and Core Zone Teens Club, and access to the nearby historical and ecological offerings of Tulum and Cobá.
The Dreams Acapulco Resort & Spa opened November 1. Set on Playa Icacos on the Miguel Alemán coast of Acapulco, it has 605 rooms and seven restaurants, four bars and lounges and a Dreams Spa by Pevonia.
In terms of enhancements, the Now Sapphire Riviera Cancun recently wrapped a renovation that updated all of its guestrooms and added new swim-up units, as well as a new Preferred Club room category.
In a similar vein, the Now Larimar Punta Cana recently updated all of its accommodations, adding 17 new Preferred Club rooms with private pool access, plus a new beach club. The project also included updates to the resort’s restaurants, convention center and main pool.
Also in Punta Cana, the Secrets Royal Beach received two new private pools, including an infinity pool, a new swim-up room category, a new Preferred Club lounge, a new bar at the swim-up area and a new private pool room category.
Looking ahead, December 15 will see the opening of the Dreams Curaçao Resort, Spa & Casino. Located in Piscadera Bay, the 197-room property will be the product of a $15 million renovation of the former Hilton Curaçao. In addition to access to two private, white sand beaches, two culinary concepts, a luxury spa and fitness facilities, the refreshed and rebranded resort will also have a wedding venue housed in a 16th-century fort.
In late January the Now Natura Riviera Cancun will open. Ten miles south of Cancun’s airport, the 534-room property will have a nature-inspired design, incorporating cenotes and waterfalls. It will also have a lazy river, water park amenities and a grotto bar.
The family-friendly Dreams Vista Cancun will open in early February with 232 rooms, including family suites that can accommodate up to six people. Also on property will be a rooftop pool and a surf pool. Additionally, since the resort will be adjacent to the gated community of Puerto Cancun, a water taxi will provide complimentary shuttle service to the community’s luxury shopping mall.
Also opening early that month will be the new Secrets St. Martin. On the island’s French side, the 258-room all-inclusive will be the product of a conversion of the former Riu Palace St. Martin. Set on a private enclave with views of Anguilla, the property will have what’s being billed as the largest pool in the Caribbean, as well as a newly added rooftop pool with ocean views and swim-out suites.
Finally, in late February, the Dreams Macao Beach Punta Cana will open with 503 guestrooms and an on-property casino. The resort will also have extensive meetings and conventions space, as well as large, two-bedroom suites that can accommodate up to eight people.
Travel Impressions’ Best of the Best conference took place November 21 – 23, honoring 153 top-performing travel agencies at the Secrets Maroma Beach Riviera Cancun.
