Auberge Resorts Collection is adding a new resort in the Riviera Maya to its portfolio. The company reports that it has been selected by Mexico City-based GIM Desarrollos to manage Etéreo, Auberge Resorts Collection, Riviera Maya, which will represent Auberge’s fourth property in Mexico.
Slated to open in 2021, the resort will consist of a series of patinaed coral stone structures elevated above the surrounding tropical vegetation and connected by a series of wooden boardwalks and pathways.
Accommodations will consist of 75 guesthouses with a design that aims for a highly residential feel. Each will have ocean views, floor-to-ceiling windows, large terraces, private plunge pools and expansive sliding doors, all juxtaposing contemporary materials with regionally inspired design elements and natural materials.
Also on property will be two dining venues, including a signature restaurant serving a modern interpretation of artisanal Mexican dishes in a setting overlooking the ocean, as well as an Auberge Spa, which will be set in a location overlooking a sea of mangroves and accessible via an elevated walkway. Treatments here will take their inspiration from local healing traditions, with treatment rooms having private gardens with outdoor showers and baths. The spa will also incorporate fitness and yoga pavilions into the surrounding natural environment.
Finally, at the water’s edge, the resort will have a beach club with a long infinity-edge swimming pool and a casual beachside bar.
The resort will be set on the east coast of the Yucatan Peninsula, 24 miles from Cancun International Airport and six miles from Playa del Carmen.
